Tinley Manor Launch
The local Umhlali Ski Boat Club historically launched at Tinley Manor, just north. That launch has been closed since early 2025 during the Club Med development. See Tinley Manor.
Target Species
- Gamefish. Couta, dorado, yellowfin tuna, Natal snoek and garrick, with occasional sailfish, marlin and wahoo.
- Bottom fish. Daga salmon, geelbek, musselcracker, rockcod, reds and kob on the deeper reefs.
- Seasons. One Ballito operator fishes for marlin, sailfish, dorado, couta and tuna from December to May, and kob, geelbek and garrick from June to November. Bottom fish run all year.

Not from an official public launch. Charters leave from Salmon Bay in Ballito or from Westbrook.

Do I need a fishing permit?
Yes. Every angler needs a recreational fishing permit, also on a charter boat, and most Durban operators say it is not included. Buy one at a Post Office or online from the DFFE before the trip.
